ARC software
ARC software is a flexible enterprise architecture visualization tool that allows you to model, document, and maintain your organization’s enterprise architecture descriptions.

With ARC software, you can clarify even complex entities to make them easy to understand, develop, and manage
ARC is a Finnish SaaS service that helps you model, document, and maintain your organization’s enterprise architecture descriptions according to standards such as JHS 179, the Information Management Act, or ISO 27001. The software is suitable for organizations that benefit from enterprise architecture, their enterprise architects, ICT experts, and business developers.
The software is adaptable to different frameworks with ready-made templates available. These templates speed up and simplify the creation, maintenance, and utilization of architecture documentation as part of business development.
You define what is documented about the architecture and at what level of detail. Information is entered into the software, and based on this information, the software draws connections between the data. The drawing tool can also be used to model conceptual level entities such as strategy, vision, and architectural principles.

“With ARC, the information management model and information security management have been clarified, and related information has been documented. Additionally, ARC’s connection diagram function helps understand the relationships between different elements,”

Tables
In ARC’s tables, you document the desired parts of the operation. You create portfolios, i.e., feature tables, of the entities you are examining, where you can define the desired amount of feature data in the desired format. The tables can show distributions of classifying columns and summation of numerical fields. Importing data from Excel into ARC’s portfolios is effortless, and the transfer can also be easily done in reverse.

Connection Diagram
ARC’s central way of visualizing the organization’s pieces as a whole is the connection diagram. This tool, which works like a mind map, connects the pieces of the enterprise architecture into a real-time updated whole. It helps you understand the dynamics of the organization’s operations, make visible the network, impact, and dependency relationships between different parts.
The connection diagram always shows one architecture entity at a time. You can examine the operation from the perspective of a single element, such as a process or system, and understand all the related pieces. You can expand or filter the examination directly from the connection diagram by clicking. These features make connection diagrams an excellent tool for modeling the current state of the architecture. Diagram information can also be imported into ARC from diagrams created with Draw.io or Visio.

Diagram Editor
With the diagram editor, you draw visual diagrams and other descriptions directly in ARC software. Diagrams created with the editor serve as an excellent tool for planning operations or creating detailed descriptions. Descriptions created with the editor can be linked directly to complement and specify the description of the organization’s operations created with the connection diagram.
The diagram editor’s versatile drawing features ensure a pleasant modeling experience. The editor also has extensive support for different modeling languages and process drawing techniques such as BPMN, ArchiMate, UML Class, Lean VSM, and ER notation.

Roadmap
ARC’s Roadmap section is a project management tool that supports you in planning the future target states of the enterprise architecture through projects. With the Roadmap, you make visible the management of organizational changes from the current state to the target state and the acceptance of changes. The easily modifiable GANTT timeline shows all project schedules, projects, and their phases, scenarios, and actions at once.
ARC’s Roadmap section differs from traditional project management tools in that it is used as an integral part of enterprise architecture development work. With ARC’s connection diagram and Roadmap, you can easily describe the connections of projects derived from the strategy to other parts of the organization and daily processes.

Models and Elements
The building blocks of the entities described in ARC are models and elements, i.e., the structures and contents of the organization. With models, you visualize what pieces your operations consist of. The task of elements, i.e., contents, is to tell what concrete things are included in these concepts.
When creating a model, i.e., the structure of the organization, you immediately set the default connections and properties that all elements of this model inherit. You do not need to consider or remember separately for each piece what organizational parts it can have connections, impact, or dependency relationships with, or what needs to be told about it.

Additional Services and Integrations
- ServiceNow integration: CMDB data as a basis for architecture work
- SSO configuration: Single sign-on
- IMS-ARC Process integration: Ready-made process descriptions for enterprise architecture use
- OpenAPI interface description: Import element data from an external source.
- ServiceNow-integraatio.

Information Security
We follow general best practices in the development and testing of ARC software, including OWASP recommendations. Additionally, our operations are guided by the Security Control Framework of the Total Specific Solutions group. ARC’s product development and servers are located in Finland, and the software is used via a TLS-secured connection. The service provider, Arter, is responsible for content backups, which are scheduled daily. We consider information security in product development by continuously monitoring security publications and regularly scanning for security vulnerabilities.

Software Implementation
Get the most out of ARC with our services
ARC software includes by default Arter’s own enterprise architecture framework template, the Arter Framework. To get the best benefit, we recommend a service that suits your needs during the software implementation.
Ready-made templates are available for implementing the Information Management Act, the reference architecture for vocational education, information security, and data protection (GDPR). In addition to the template, the services include close cooperation with our consultant.
Finnish Customer Service and Product Development
ARC software’s customer service, technical support, product development, and servers are located in Finland. This means that:
- Your feedback does not end up in a drawer but goes directly to product development under the same roof.
- You deal with us in Finnish, if necessary, also in English.
- We know our products inside out because we develop them ourselves.
